“ I found it to be a nice place with a pub-like atmosphere, and the pot roast dinner that I had was exquisite. But the big thing for me was they were kind enough to let me stay inside the building for almost two hours until the next Metra train to Fox Lake arrived, since I had just missed the last one by a minute due to the Amtrak train that I was on arriving at the train station almost half an hour late. I really appreciated that, given that it was cold outside, the train station was locked tight, and I was in an unfamiliar area well after dark. Because of that, I tipped them almost 100%, giving them 40 for a 23 meal as a sign of gratitude. If I ever find myself in Glenview again, they will be certain to get my business! ”
“ This year I chose Grandpa’s place to host my company holiday outing- lets just say I got a big bonus! Kidding aside, it was the perfect space to celebrate! Our wishes for set up and decoration were accommodated! Festive lights were in place and a fantastic music selection set the perfect tone. The Chicken kabobs were a huge hit, amongst other restaurant staples, the Reuben, Burgers, and salads! Our Server/ Bartender Bill was very attentive, gave perfect suggestions and made our party feel special. We are already thinking of reasons to return- i think we found our place! “ Great place to meet up with friends! We sat on back patio early on them inside later. Patio was very relaxing and we had great service. Metra is right across the street so easy access, tho a bit loud during weekday rush hour. Adds to the small town charm tho. Inside was warm and inviting, tho there was definitely a 'smell' we noticed when entering. Super nice bar staff. Lots of fun! Those that ate had chicken kabob plate and said it was to die for. ”

“ Open Mic Night - Free Live Music What a cool, old place with lovely wooden highlights. The building is BIG - with multiple event sites. For a cold Tuesday night we were pleased to find the place was buzzing! A Comedy Mic was downstairs, lots of diners were in the main floor dining room/bar area, and the upstairs Open Mic room was almost to capacity. It was winter but we were told the Open Mic event is outside in warmer weather. (Lots of patio areas were visible.) Order your food at the bar and they’ll bring it to you. We split a burger and fries. The musicians were varied - using guitar, banjo, mandolin, harmonica and more varieties of stringed instruments. Bob Dylan ruled the set list the night we were there but more than one artist performed original works. The hosts are pros. All mics and sound needs are handled excellently. Smooth and speedy set changes. The crowd was mostly very jolly artists supporting each other - making it a very welcoming, supportive, engaged audience. As first timers we enjoyed the event - but be forewarned - the wooden seats are hard and we left after two hours, not sure when the event was ending. 9:30 on a work night was late enough for us. The event was scheduled as beginning at 7:30 but because they started early we missed the first player. That was irritating. Otherwise it was a very enjoyable evening. Highly recommend. ”
